ImpactThe moment in the swing when the club strikes the ball.

InThe second nine holes as opposed to out - the first nine holes

Inset Hosel A club design with the hosel toward the center of the club face in an attempt to reduce head twisting.

InsideBeing nearer the hole than the ball of your opponent.

Inside-to-In It refers to a path in which the clubhead travels from inside the target line, to impact, and then back inside the target line.

Inside-to-Out A swing path in which the clubhead approaches the ball from inside the target line and, after contact, continues to the outside of the target line before turning back to the inside of the target line.

Intended LineThe line you expect the ball to travel after striking it.

Intended Line of Flight The direction a player plans for his ball to begin after impact.

Interlocking GripA type of grip where the little finger of the left hand is intertwined with the index finger of the right hand for a right handed player.

IronAny one of a number of clubs with a head made of metal.   Usually refers to every club between a Pitching Wedge and a Driving Iron.  Most sets include a 9 through 3 Iron.  Any club other than a putter and a wood (including a metal wood).

Iron ByronA testing device modeled after Byron Nelson's swing. It is used to test clubs and balls.
